First Haiku

Had a bit of time this evening so looked into writing Haiku

Here’s my first 3 attempts all based on what’s going on in my garden

Perplexingly

Seed truly buried

Surface monitored and wet

Sadly no result

The Sentry

Silent bird no more

Garden predator arrives

Sound out the warning

Old faithful

Nicotiana

Self seeding relentlessness

Untended wonders

Four and Four makes Two

On Claudia Winkleman’s Radio 2 show, there is a feature on little wins such as going through the pockets of clothing you have not worn for a while and finding twenty quid, or eating a kit-kat and finding one finger doesn’t have the wafer.

I get the same buzz when I come across explanations to ideas that may confound that are so good, they can be filed under once seen, never forgotten.

Four and Four makes Two

For individual resistors

Each connected in series

The total is simply their sum

That’s the easiest there is

Of course that means resistance

Increases as you add

Clearly making common-sense

Let’s all be very glad

For it happens when in parallel

The more resistors introduced

Bring the total value down this time

Not easily deduced

In order to make peace with

This apparent absurdity

Note that your adding branches

So current flows more easily

Jazz Club

If you have followed me for a bit, you will appreciate that I’m fairly concrete. I really love music, but it suggests that it should be difficult for me to appreciate Jazz.

Therefore I’m surprised that I do. Maybe that’s down to experienced in 80s Sheffield at The Leadmill and Mr Kite’s

I also like the ride that the audience is taken on in the Fast Show’s Jazz Club, as some of the renditions are pleasant in spite of the intention that they are superficially rubbish.

Great!

A nickname within a name

Virtuoso we are pleased

To be at your rare performance

Band specifically assembled

No guitars

Syncopated conflict

Somehow registers

Pleasing to the ear

Pattern recognition suspended

Rehearsed yet improvised

Nice
